General Description
TIP operates 3,300 square feet of wet and dry labs in building 4, at the UCONN Health Center in Farmington. These labs can accommodate a variety of start-up companies.
Size: the size of the labs varies and ranges from 163 square feet to 435 square feet.
Equipment: some wet labs are equipped with chemical fume hood and sinks, some others do not offer hoods. There also are two shared environment rooms.
Utilities: hot and cold water, gas, DI water, vacuum and compressed air. Multiple power outlets including 110 and 220V. Phone and IT jacks provided.
Room features: benches, shelves, cabinets and windows in the lab space. Most labs rooms have an adjoining office space of 70 sf each.
Rate: $12 per square foot annually, with a $2 increase per square foot per year. Heat and electrical included.

- Support for environmental health and safety services including waste removal
- Online and physical access to the UCONN libraries
- Access to other equipment in faculty labs can be arranged
- Use of Bioservices and other service centers available for reasonable fees (www.biotech.uconn.edu/)

Scientists at the University of Connecticut Health Center (UCHC) work collaboratively with researchers in industry and other institutions to conduct innovative basic science, clinical, epidemiological and biobehavioral research on a budget of $48.0 million a year. A new Academic Research Building was opened in 1999 dedicated solely to biomedical research. This recent growth in biomedical research at the UCHC has provided resources and support for the establishment and development of start-up companies at Farmington. |
